In the past, making a dental crown was a cumbersome and time-consuming process. If you needed a crown, your dentist would need to take a mold of your teeth and send it to an off-site dental lab. There, they would create the crown and send it back to our practice. Unfortunately, not only would patients have to schedule a follow-up appointment to receive the crown, but it would be weeks after their initial appointment.
It also means they would have to wear a temporary crown before their follow-up visit. Since temporary crowns aren’t nearly as durable or effective as permanent crowns, patients would need to change their diet or even eat on the opposite side of their mouth until their next appointment.
Even more frustrating, if the crown didn’t fit properly or the color didn’t quite match the other teeth, patients would have to start the whole process over again. This only created a large inconvenience for patients, which is exactly why we upgraded.
